Many NIHFCU ATMs now provide a Live Video Teller experience! With our Interactive Teller Machines – or ITMs – you can choose to see, talk or text chat in real-time with an NIHFCU Video Teller for your ATM and teller-based transaction needs.

Video tellers are being added to many existing NIHFCU ATMs, making your teller-based transactions more convenient than ever.

Interactive Teller Machine (ITM) FAQs

Will my transaction take longer than it does with a traditional teller?

  • ITM transactions with our Video tellers commonly take less time than transacting in a branch with a traditional teller.

What if I just want to use a traditional ATM and not communicate with a video teller?

  • Not a problem. You can still use any of our ATMs without the video teller option for cash withdrawals and deposits (if available). Or, for other teller-assisted transactions, you can always visit any of our branches during normal business hours.

Will my deposit be processed as it is when I go to a regular teller?

  • Your deposit will be processed in the same way, whether you transact with a traditional teller in a branch or a video teller at the ITM.

Can I put coins into the ITM?

  • Similar to ATM functionality, the ITM function cannot accept or process coins.

Will the ITM dispense coins? What if I want to cash a check that is not an even amount?

  • The ITM will not dispense coins. For check cashing of an uneven amount, the ITM will automatically round-up to the nearest dollar and will dispense your bills accordingly.

What can I do at the ITM?

  • Our video tellers can perform all the transactions of a traditional in-branch teller, including:

    • Cashing checks

    • Making account transfers

    • Accepting NIHFCU loan payments

    • Depositing of checks and cash

    • Withdrawing cash

  • Our video tellers can also assist with answering many of your other NIHFCU account questions.

Where are the video tellers located?

  • The Video Tellers are all NIHFCU employees located at NIHFCU’s Teller Operations Center in Rockville, MD. You may even recognize some tellers from transacting at your local branch!

Is there privacy? I do not want others listening to my conversation. What can I do?

  • For added privacy, the ITM will allow you to pick up a built-in handset for your conversation with the Video Teller. If you remain concerned about privacy, you can also choose to private chat with the video teller using a touchscreen keyboard.

I am not an NIHFCU member. Is the Video Teller option available to me?

  • Non-members can still visit any NIHFCU ATM for their cash withdrawal needs. However, the Video Teller functionality is only available for NIHFCU members.

If I deposit a check into the ITM, how can I confirm it was received?

  • The ITM will print out an image of the check to confirm its receipt.

Is this new technology secure? How will the Video Tellers authenticate that I am the actual member?

  • Yes, the ITM is secure. The Video Tellers will use the same authentication procedure as our in-branch tellers before processing any transactions.

Is there a cost to use the Video Teller functionality?

  • There is no cost to use the Video Teller functionality. This is a brand-new option adding to the value and convenience of your NIHFCU membership.
